Ask Dr. Hilda
Question: I am in a wonderful, committed relationship with a man, and have always considered myself heterosexual. However, when I fantasize, or view porn, I only get turned on by women. Is there any explanation for fantasies about women?
Answer: Yes, having sex with another woman is one of the most common female fantasies. And having a fantasy about a certain sex act does not mean that you want to have that experience in real life. It is simply a fantasy. Fantasies allow you to experience those acts that you might never consider actually having, in the safety of your brain. Let's call it "mental masturbation." It is safe and personal. You don't have to share it with anyone, and you can call it forth whenever you like. Go ahead and enjoy your fantasy without guilt or shame. --Dr. Hilda
