Ask Dr. Hilda
Question: I am 44 years old and I am trying to get pregnant I went and see my OBGYN and he scheduled a Hysterosalpingogram After that procedure, I had a chronic infection and I had to undergo another procedure to save my life. Do I have any chance of ever getting pregnant? Or is there any procedure that can correct this problem that will help me to get pregnant.
Answer: Since your infection followed a hysterosalpingogram, there is a good chance that your fallopian tubes were damaged. That, combined with your age, may have decreased your chances of conceiving naturally. I suggest that you see a fertility specialist. Your best chance of conceiving may be with the assistance of invitro fertilization (IVF). --Dr. Hilda
